The person who robbed the Lucky Diamond casino at knifepoint Tuesday got up pretty early in the morning to do it. The incident happened at 5:30 a.m. Today, at 7 a.m., police got a call leading them to a suspect in that robbery. Here’s how the Missoulian story starts:Missoula police arrested a 24-year-old man early Friday morning in connection with Tuesday’s pre-dawn knifepoint robbery of the Lucky Diamond casino on Brooks Street.
Police got a call at about 7 a.m. Friday that a man resembling the description of the suspect was in the Lucky Strike casino, just off Brooks, said Missoula police Detective Sgt. Travis Welsh.
The man was outside the casino when police arrived, and ran away when they tried to talk to him, Welsh said. They caught him across Brooks in the old Burger King parking lot.
Russell Miller of Missoula initially was arrested for obstructing a police officer, a misdemeanor, but now will face charges in connection with the Lucky Diamond robbery, Welsh said.
“There was evidence recovered from his person that may possibly connect him to the previous robbery,” he said.
