Good grief. I take some time off and the Cops and Courts beat goes nuts. Here’s a quick summary:
A classic alcohol-was-involved case, from the Helena Independent Record:
Three intoxicated men. Two guns. A knife.
One man is airlifted at one point, reportedly shot. Another is taken to a hospital with significant facial
injuries.
No criminal charges have been filed against any of the men involved in this Oct. 28 assault in Lincoln.
The Missoulian’s Betsy Cohen reported that:
Thomas Jeffery Adams’ plan for a Sunday drive with a friend to illegally buy booze and possibly rob a convenience store was fouled first by witnesses and later by police.
The plan – and unsuccessful outcome – landed Adams in Missoula Justice Court on Monday facing charges of conspiracy to commit robbery, a felony, and operation of a motor vehicle under age 21 with a blood-alcohol content of 0.02 or more.
In Idaho, a state trooper shot and killed a Butte woman after her car hit his, according to the Associated Press:
Coeur D’Alene, Idaho – The woman shot and killed by an Idaho State Police trooper after an altercation near Hayden, Idaho, has been identified.
The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Department identifies the victim as 40-year-old Christie A. Little of Butte.
The sheriff’s office says she was killed and another person injured when the trooper opened fire on a vehicle that collided with the patrol car Monday evening near Hayden.
The AP reports a big drug bust in Belgrade:
BOZEMAN – A 38-year-old Belgrade man was arrested after authorities say they found more than 47 pounds of marijuana and other drugs at his home. … (Authorities) found 47.75 pounds of marijuana packaged in 91 separate containers, 8.24 ounces of Psilocybin mushrooms, 2 ounces of hashish, one marijuana plant and drug paraphernalia.
And the Billings Gazette has this truly disturbing story:
BILLINGS – A 52-year-old Billings woman who was arrested after driving drunk to pick up her daughter at school has been sentenced for her fifth and sixth DUIs.
I think that’s it. I’m back at work on Wednesday when, given the way these things tend to go, crime will likely come to a screeching halt.
