Somebody’s twisted idea of fun ruins popular Lake Como picnic spot

I never get why people do this stuff. The most charitable reaction I can dredge up is that they probably have no idea of the amount of damage they do.

The Ravalli Republic’s Perry Backus has the story:

The Bitterroot Valley’s favorite picnic spot will sport a few less tables this summer, thanks to the work of some vandals over the weekend.

Forest Service officials found six of the heavy tables overturned during a routine patrol Sunday morning near the swimming area at Lake Como. …

“We’re probably not going to be able to replace these right away,” said Darby District Ranger Chuck Oliver. “It’s not like we have these in stock.”

Each table weighs about 500 pounds. Several were broken. The total cost of the vandalism was estimated at $15,000.
