In Darby, a Cessna made an emergency landing on U.S. Highway 93 after the pilot apparently ran out of gas, Perry Backus of the Ravalli Republic reports:
“He was really lucky there was no traffic when he put down,” said Montana Highway Patrol Trooper Scott Bennett.
Sheriffs won’t be first in Montana after all.
Matt Volz of the Associated Press reports that a legislative committee today slashed the so-called “Sheriffs First” bill that would have required federal law-enforcement officers to receive written permission from the sheriff before making an arrest, search or seizure in a Montana county.
