Michael Moore’s story on the federal crackdown on medical marijuana is generating a lot of comment.

Turns out that inquiries by U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration agents extend to lawmakers who worked to reform Montana’s messy medical marijuana situation.

They included Missoula’s Diana Sands, who was not amused:

Montana’s congressional delegation blasts ATF gun ban for medical pot users

I’d love to say that I was remarkably prescient when it comes to the ongoing outrage over the recent ATF letter stating that medical marijuana cardholders can’t buy guns and ammo – and that it’s illegal for gun dealers to sell to them.

But in Montana, that’s pretty much a no-brainer, as witnessed [...]

Feds – Medical marijuana card? No guns. Gun, pot groups – No way.

Let’s hope the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives wasn’t surprised by the reaction to its recent memo that it’s illegal for medical marijuana cardholders to buy firearms and ammunition and for dealers to sell the products to them.

Because that stuff doesn’t play in Montana, at least not among many [...]

Medical marijuana – Judge’s ruling, and a puzzling raid

The Missoulian got a note from a reader today who was upset because so many medical marijuana dispensaries are closed and he felt as though there should be more coverage of that fact. Guess he’s missed the near-daily stories about the ongoing wrangling over Montana’s medical marijuana law.

There were a couple of [...]

Medical marijuana group sees fast progress on move to put law on ballot

Montanans upset with the 2011 Legislature’s strict overhaul of the state’s 2004 voter initiative legalizing the medical use of marijuana are attacking the measure on three fronts.

One of those involves a petition to put the new law on the ballot in November. As the Missoulian’s Capitol Bureau Chief Chuck Johnson explains, that [...]
