Missoula County Sheriff’s Office turns season upside down. Oh, oh, oh?

There are varying explanations as to why the tree in the Missoula County Sheriff’s Department is hanging upside down. It was so crooked it looks better that way. The tree stand broke. Etc, etc. Whatever the reason, here’s the tree in all its inverted glory. FYI, the decorations are photos of the deputies [...]

The things you learn covering this beat. For instance, an “AB agent in the federal pen” apparently refers to a high-ranking member of the Aryan Nations group within the federal prison system.

Have you seen these dogs? They’re missing in Deer Creek

A couple who left their car on Deer Creek Road in hopes that their missing dogs would return to it instead found the vehicle set afire and the dogs still missing.

The fire was reported just before 8 a.m. Friday morning on Deer Creek road about 4 miles past the Deer Creek Shooting Range, according to Missoula County Sheriff’s Detective Jason Johnson.

The couple had returned Friday morning to their Chevy Blazer, which they’d left there two days earlier, and saw the Blazer burning and a green SUV leaving the area, he said.

Deputies stopped a green SUV and detained its two occupants, Antonio Robinson, 28, and Chelsea Chafee, 25. A tent, boots and reloading equipment that had been in the victims’ Blazer were found in the green SUV, he said.

Robinson and Chaffee were being held in the Missoula County Detention Center. They face charges of theft, criminal mischief and felony arson, Johnson said.

The Blazer’s owners, he said, “are upset over today’s incident but more than anything they want to recover their dogs.”

Pharmacist, 80, points ‘big black pistol’ at robber, who runs screaming

In fairness, we have to point out that the actions by an 80-year-old pharmacist at Lolo Drug are ill-advised. Which doesn’t keep us from also feeling really, really good about the way things turned out.

An 80-year-old Lolo pharmacist who once wrestled a gun away from a would-be robber foiled another heist Thursday [...]
