Sheriffs won’t be first in Montana after all.
Matt Volz of the Associated Press reports that a legislative committee today slashed the so-called “Sheriffs First” bill that would have required federal law-enforcement officers to receive written permission from the sheriff before making an arrest, search or seizure in a Montana county.
